The BKA’s IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a challenging framework that follows on from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and is a framework for learning for 12–16 year-olds. It encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. Rich in personal creativity, self sufficiency and academic curiosity, the MYP aims to broaden perspectives, encouraging adolescents to communicate and collaborate with those of different cultures and backgrounds, and critically assess their choices and the world around them.
Students are challenged in eight subjects. Each subject is taught within the framework of a concept of ‘big idea’. Using world examples and materials from countries around the world makes learning relevant and interesting and gives students a global perspective. The BKA MYP is a four-year programme, which is ideal in preparing students for future education in the IB Diploma.
