Basel Stadt Subsidies

Families may apply for subsidies if:

• The child lives in Basel-Stadt
• The child attends a state-subsidised childcare provider
• Parents are working, in education or training during the duration of their child attending daycare. 
• A minimum attendance level of 40% is met

The subsidy amount is income- and asset-based and is calculated by the Fachstelle Tagesbetreuung Basel-Stadt.
Approved subsidies are paid directly to the BKA, and parents pay the remaining balance.

For eligible families, the maximum monthly parental contribution for full-time care (5 days per week) is currently capped by the canton at CHF 1'600, making childcare more affordable for families in Basel-Stadt.
