Principal's Welcome

Welcome to BKA! This is an exceptional school in so many ways. We are a warm, welcoming community, made up of students, families and teachers from around the globe. Throughout the school, the teaching and care of the students is based upon a unique and rigorous programme, designed to ensure the very best education and care for each child. Based in beautiful campuses around Basel, our highly-trained staff ensure that each child is well known and that their educational journey is inspiring and full of wonder. 

We focus strongly on ensuring that our curriculum is based upon the best and most successful academic education approaches. Whilst focusing on ensuring that all fundamental skills and knowledge are secure at each level, we also foster a strong sense of enquiry and adventure. We teach them problem-solving, critical thinking and how to be creative and imaginative in everything they do. We encourage the children to be inquiring and curious, confident and resilient in their approach to their learning. Due to our robust and well-structured programme, our students achieve academic success that well-surpasses the outcomes of their peers at local schools. Our bilingual approach ensures that our students far exceed local standards in both English and German, as well as in Mathematics and all the other subjects in our core curriculum, at every stage of their academic journey. We are very proud of our students, who go on to study at top institutions, here in Switzerland and abroad. We also pride ourselves on our outstanding pastoral care. Each child is well-known and cared for to the highest standards. The children also love our extra-curricular club programme, where they can explore their passions and find new ones! 

Based in Basel, our students have so many opportunities to enjoy this wonderful city and all that it has to offer. Recognised as the cultural capital of Switzerland, there are over 40 museums in the city alone. Our students regularly have the opportunity to enhance their learning by attending exhibitions and workshops. They also make the most of having the beautiful historic centre of the city on our doorstep, with the theatre and the Rhine also just around the corner. There is always so much to see and explore in Basel, as well as in the many other fantastic places nearby, with Zürich, Lucerne and Bern being only an hour away. We also take the children up to the mountains to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful nature that is only ever a train ride away in Switzerland.
